Jonathan, LesLee, Auntie Alesia, Uncle Troy & Aunt Erica pose with Phil’s Mom, Grandma Polly at her new home at Aksarben Village. Little did we know that we were moving Phil’s whole family to Omaha. Little did we know Lauren’s cancer would come back and Phil’s family would be here ready to support her. My sister and her family are sending much aloha from Hawaii and my brother is sending desert positive vibes from his family in Arizona.

Lolo’s 1st day of 8th grade
Lolo ends up not having the best start to her 8th grade year. She was sick the first day of 8th grade and missed the 8th grade breakfast and walking to school with all her classmates. She wasn’t that excited to pose for her first grade photo a couple of days later, so I caught this one, but her eyes are closed.

Lolo and Dr. Coulter
Lauren poses with Dr. Coulter after tearing a ligament in her thumb. Dang….we can’t keep her from hurting herself. Of course, we always have to worry that Dr. Coulter might hurt her as he wrestles her every time she has a visit. It is what she looks forward to because they are both nuts!
Lolo regained her strength and came back to volleyball strong. She has a killer serve and is showing her skills in this picture
Lauren is #7 on her Elite Team Fury for Nebraska Elite Volleyball. Lolo plays outside hitter. This is her 5th year at Elite. Even after being in the hospital for 6 months, she returned to Elite in the fall to go for it!
Lolo and Lolo
Lauren poses for a picture with her giraffe, also named Lolo. The Henry Doorly Zoo had a contest to name the giraffe. I wonder why almost 600 people voted for the name Lolo! The zoo then thought it was the right name for the giraffe too. We like to visit her and watch her grow up. She is a very good giraffe

Cruise on the Seine
One of Lolo’s wishes was to take a dinner cruise on the Seine River. This was a great choice. Jonathan had his first champagne, but Lolo got confused after going to the bathroom. When she came out and saw what looked like the Statue of Liberty, she couldn’t figure out how we go to New York….
Lolo and the Eiffel Tower all lit up
Each night of Lolo’s Make A Wish trip, we walked out of our hotel and down to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle….and had a nutella and banana crepe, hot off the food truck. Nous aimons le Paris.
Lolo and Avery
Lauren and Avery Harriman were honored at the Big Red Dinner in Lincoln for Make A Wish Nebraska. We have become friends with the Harrimans because they are simply awesome!

Lolo emerges from the loss of her hair, Intensive Care, and a strawberry bandaid on her nose from the C-Pap machine with a big grin. Poor sweet girl….the beginning of a very long battle.

Lolo and her 2 broken arms
After the first practice of her regional volleyball team practice, Lolo falls and breaks both of her arms. In usual fashion, she didn’t even tell the Ortmans anything was wrong when they drove her home that night. She went to the practice with her splints and was ready to hit by Valentine’s Day.
See you at the starting line.
