One of the things our family tried to do after Lauren left the hospital was to get stronger.  We were lucky enough to find Brent Pyle at Prairie Life Fitness to be our family’s personal trainer.  We have all enjoyed getting to know Brent.  He is a remarkable person and can be quite the hammer.  In addition to putting up with our whiny family and making us strive to get fit, he has offered to run a bone marrow drive in honor of Lolo at the Prairie Life in Midtown in Omaha on April 11th and April 12th.

If you haven’t registered to be a bone marrow donor and are interested in finding out more about it, please stop by the Prairie Life and consider getting tested.  It just requires a swab!!!

If you are a match for someone, they will call you.  We are working with Delete Blood Cancer for this bone marrow drive.  We are looking for donors between 18 and 55.  If you want to see if you are eligible look up Delete Blood Cancer on the website and answer the simple questions they have.  If you are chosen, you will be contacted.  It is a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia.  Lauren has had this procedure done many times.  They take a sample of bone marrow from your back, actually in the hip bones.  It doesn’t even require stitches, they put a band aid over the site!  When Lauren had to have it done last week, she went to school later in the day.  Your hips will be sore, but you will be fine in a few days.  If you saw a person dying on the street and knew you could save them but you would be sore for a few days….you would take the risk.  Think of it that way.  About ½ of people waiting for a bone marrow transplant do not receive one because they don’t have a match.  Most of these people do not survive!  Please consider becoming a hero and being a match for someone……

Go, Lolo, Go!!!  What a gift and a blessing if her fight brings about a chance of life for other people!

We are very thankful to my friend, Erin Cimpl Nahorny of Sammy’s Superheroes that ran a bone marrow drive in Columbus, Nebraska last week.  They were able to get 100 people (and counting) to register.  If you have an event coming up that would allow a bone marrow drive table to be set up, please contact me at [email protected] and I will have “DeleteBloodCancer” contact you to get you all set up.  They are very organized and helpful!

Thanks for supporting her in this way!

Also, please keep checking this site… we have many more upcoming bone marrow drives and we want to get as much support as we can….please spread the word!
